The West Virginia University Women’s Soccer team will not repeat as Big 12 champions. Texas Christian University ended the Mountaineers’ chances of repeating as such in penalty kick in the Big 12 Semifinal.
The lone TCU Horned Frogs goal came from Allison Ganter in the 51st minute of the match.
TCU was able to hold the lead until WVU’s Amadine Pierre-Louis tied the game at one a piece with just 13 minutes remaining in the match.
As the final whistle blew, the game was still knotted at one and the decisive goal would have to be decided in Overtime.
Overtime came and went with nothing to show for it.
Making all five penalty kicks, TCU will play in Sunday afternoon’s Big 12 Championship game. The Mountaineers were unable to convert on it’s third penalty kick of the night.
West Virginia will now be forced to wait for their NCAA Tournament seed and in which region they’ll be place. There is still a possibility the Mountaineers could host the first round of the NCAA Tournament but their chances of doing so would be substantially better had tonight gone a different way.
