Mountaineers Women Soccer Dominates Bucknell 3-0

Following a tough outing in the Big 12 Tournament, the West Virginia University Women’s Soccer team responded in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by dominating Bucknell University.

Two of WVU’s three goals came from star senior Forward and Houston, Texas native, Michaela Abam. Abam’s first goal on the day came 16 minutes into the game. Her second tally on the day came just two minutes into the second half (47′).

Abam’s two goals on the day gives her 10 goals and 23 points on the season. She’s now scored five goals in the last five games.

Abam now has 100 points in her West Virginia career. She’s now just three goals shy of tying Katie Barnes as the second highest scorer in program history.

The third and final goal scored by the Mountaineers came courtesy of junior Forward Sh’nia Gordon. Gordon’s goal came in the 58th minute.

WVU out shot attempted the Bison 25-0 on the day. They lead the shots on goal category 12-0.

West Virginia will take on the winner of the Rutgers vs La Salle game which is set to get underway at 5pm. The Mountaineers will host their second round matchup.
