Jevon Carter’s NBA stock continues to rise

As the 2018 NBA Draft approaches, Mountaineer fans will be preparing to see where their star point guard and face of Press Virginia, Jevon Carter ends up. West Virginia basketball and NBA success have not always necessarily gone hand in hand, but that could be changing with Jevon Carter appearing to be the first Mountaineer drafted since Da’Sean Butler was selected 42nd overall by the Miami Heat in 2010.

Just a little over four years ago, Carter held an offer list that contained schools such as Dartmouth, Illinois State, Indiana State, Kent St, Mercer and of course, West Virginia. He was somehow severely under recruited coming out of a basketball rich city (Chicago) out of a basketball rich high school, Proviso East. Not one blue-blood program had interest of Carter’s services and every coach in America is scratching their head on how they missed out on him.

Leave it to the legendary Bob Huggins to find a tough, gritty, scrappy, hard working kid that fits to the exact mold of a Bob Huggins style player and turn him into one of the nations bet guards over a four year stretch. Carter was a four time member of the All-Big 12 Defense first team, was named 2017 NABC National defensive player of the year and just recently named the winner of the 2018 Senior CLASS award. More awards and honors will be coming his way in preparation for the NBA Draft which takes place on June 21st beginning at 7 p.m.

Below are current projections from multiple NBA Mock Draft boards for where Carter might end up.
