Georgia Cornerback Receives Offer from Mountaineers

West  Virginia coach Doug Belk is back In Georgia to offer 6’1″ 175 pounds Colquitt County (Moultrie) defensive back Jay Ward.

Jay is a quick corner with good instincts. He’s good in coverage and good at the line, he can be left on an island and not falter. War has good movement in his lower body. His vision is stellar and he has soft hands. Ward is a good tackler, and if he cant intercept the ball he can break up the pass.

Jay on his WVU offer, “It gives me the chance to play in a dynamic secondary and explore West Virginia a little more.” On the program he believes that WVU is on the rise and will be in competition with the best programs in the country. He says there’s a great chance on the possibility on playing in the BIG 12. He does plan to visit but does not know when that will be yet.

Jay does not have a top list of schools as of yet. Also, he does not have a decision date in mind.

He wants to improve on his footwork and speed, saying, “There’s nothing wrong with it, I just want to be the better man at it.” His goals for this upcoming season are to lead his team and the nation in interceptions and allow no passing yards on himself.  The most important thing to him in choosing a school is his degree. Ward is not sure which degree he’ll choose, but preliminarily, Jay wants to go into criminal justice or sports medicine.
