Setbacks are natural. And after a 4-week stretch of going 2-1 with our picks, we have come face-to-face with a demoralizing setback. I’ve learned a lot this gambling season. Don’t bet on Penn State. Ever. And never trust Florida State. Alas, a 10-11 record we now claim.
Last Week’s Results:
- Penn State (-9) at Michigan State – Loss
- Oklahoma (+2.5) at Oklahoma State – Win
- Florida State (-6) versus Syracuse – Loss
Hot Picks of Week Eleven
Florida State at Clemson (Over 46.5)
In the world of sports gambling, if an over/under looks too good to be true, it usually is. In this case, I’m throwing caution to the wind and literally betting on the idea that Clemson’s offense explodes at home against the Seminoles. I couldn’t care less what Florida State is able to do when it has the ball. They’ve proven to be inept at scoring in recent weeks. The Tigers need a statement win in order to reestablish itself as contenders for a playoff spot. Blowing out Jimbo Fisher’s Seminoles is a good start.
Texas Tech at Baylor (Over 71)
Much like the previous pick, there is also a theory that high overs tend to hit more often than not. Defenses like Texas Tech’s and Baylor’s is the reason stereotypes exist. No one thinks teams even play defense in the Big XII and if you tune into this contest on Saturday, you’ll believe that, too. Baylor’s problems aren’t as noticeable on defense, averaging close to 30 points per game at home. The same can be said for the Red Raiders who average close 40. Expect a shootout in Waco.
Alabama (-14) at Mississippi State
On paper, Mississippi State is a poor man’s Alabama. Efficient offense, disciplined defense and a more than capable running game. But, Nick Saban isn’t roaming the sidelines in Starkville. More importantly, the Tide will be playing with a chip on its shoulder after being named No. 2 in the latest college football playoff poll. The Bulldogs are a good football team, but never underestimate an Alabama team that feels like it has something to prove.
