BREAKING: Richardson stays home, chooses West Virginia

Morgantown, WV – Prized in-state recruit Amir Richardson announced his decision today in front of friends, family and teammates at nearby University High School. Richardson chose West Virginia over offers from Army, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Pittsburgh and Temple.

Richardson checks in at 6’2″ 200 lbs and was recruited to West Virginia as a safety. He has the prototypical SPUR build that Tony Gibson likes to use as a hybrid safety. Guys like K.J. Dillon and Kyzir White have found a tremendous amount of success at the position. Both made it to the NFL.

Richardson also plays receiver at University and could realistically play that position at the next level. He has great hands and makes some pretty unbelievable catches that you can find on his highlight reel. Obviously, having great hands as a safety is a plus, but it could give the Mountaineers something they haven’t had in quite some time: a ball-hawking safety.

This decision came fresh off of Richardson’s appearance at WVU’s annual Showtime camp, which was held over the weekend.
