West Virginia defensive coordinator Tony Gibson landed another transfer today by way of Grove City linebacker Carl Jaszcar.
As a true freshman in 2017, Jaszcar led his team in tackles with 81 and finished 5th in the Presidents Athletic Conference in that same category. He had an absolutely dominant performance against Case Western where he notched 19 tackles in the game and a fumble recovery.
Jaszcar was named to the All-PAC honorable mention for defense and led all freshmen in the conference in tackles. He comes to West Virginia at 6’2″ 210 having some experience playing all three linebacker positions and safety.
“I am looking to make a huge impact and I feel as if I fit really well into their program,” Jaszcar told me. “The atmosphere and coaches seem to be the best that I’ve seen throughout all of my visits both my senior year and when I decided to transfer. It feels like home.”
Jaszcar will be on the roster as a preferred walk-on and will have the opportunity to gain a scholarship later down the road. He will have three years of eligibility remaining but must sit out the 2018 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
